Brother sewing machine vx-1125?

My bobbing is not going round and it looks like the needle is not going down far enough. From what I have read so far, I have figured out that this is probably due to timing on the machine. But I am unsure on how to adjust this? can some one help me to fix my problem. I could do with some instructions and a diagram would be great. I helped my husband re-build a car engine so am sure I can do this as I think it is a little like cam belt timing lol!

the two gears must be close enough to make good contact but you will soon find the handwheel hard to turn if they to tight.alredy done the bitt on the timing iff you can read thru it again.if you google timing of sewing machine you will get a few videos that may help you

ah thanks have found that the gear had come loose and the screw holding it in place had fallen out. now got the bobbin working but can not get it timed as I think gears (white plastic bit) is not in far enough through. As I am sure any one reading this has realized this is the first time I have done this in the 17 years I have had the machine. and I do need help! dose any one have a diagram or a link to a service manual for this machine as I fear I could be here for weeks other wise! I need to know how far gears should go in and at the point the bobbin is at at the point the gears are at.

Thanks
Helen

bobbin not suppose to go around??hook is the one picking up the thread, the one that goes around.by turning the handwheel towards you, after removing bobbin and needle plate to get a better view, notice the position off the hook in relation to the needle eye.if timing is correct the hook point should be just above the needle eye on the upwards stroke off needle bar.if your hook is turning anticlock when handwheel is turned, needle should be set at far left position to check timing and if hook turn clockwise set needle to far right.if thread gets picked up when sewing straight but not getting picked up on zig zag,it mean the timing still little bit out.if hook does not move when handwheel is turned it mean hook gear or belt is gone.basic height for needle bar on top dead centre is approx. 5mm between needle clamp and machine body or needle approx. 5mm from center of hook/bobbincase when lowered bottom dead center.good luck!!
