"............. or just tape the wires up with insulating tape may not look nice but it does the job"

So 40yrs at this job gts and you don't know about oxidisation?

Unless I'm too late, Richard, you need to solder the joints, not just twist and wrap, that way is another problem being created for the future.

and thanks for the thanks

yes the would be fine you can buy an 8 way box from any alarm supplier or just tape the wires up with insulating tape may not look nice but it does the job :-)

Thankyou!!!, I've followed your advice but unfortunately there isn't any give in the cable to complete a successful repair.alarm is silenced now thanks to your kind self.would some form of junction box bridge the gap?.

for a temp repair turn mains power off to the panel open the panel and remove lead from battery now go find where the idiot cut the cable remove the outer cover from the cable and join each one up red to red black to black etc,the go to the control panel and check the fuses till you find the one that is blown replace it,replace the wire onto the battery, close the panel turn power on press reset then get an alarm comp out to replace the cable and make sure the carpet fitter pays the bill
