Scrantronic alarm gone wrong?

Hi, we had a bF fault on our 9827 scantronic system. The internal alarm was going off every 30 mins. I tried putting the engineer code into the control panel by the door but it kept going off. .. I've not taken the cover off the control panel yet where mains and battery is. My other half has turned off the alarm at the circuit breaker which set off the outside alarm then turned it back on so the alarm went off. The first time it went to sr, then -- , then back to bF. the next time he did it same happened but now the control panel is blank ..... Has he broken it?

Oh and by the way it's a 'scantronic' :)

Follow gts's advice and always isolate the mains power before you go in there, you don't need mains power on for a 1st stage reset.

Be safe.

and on a lighter note, the panel did not go wrong, you guys did for not getting it serviced :-)

and don't worry about the mains you just need to remove the fuse from the spur unit,(if fitted)or turn circuit breaker off if you wish to try replace the battery

this panel can be programmed for user or engineer reset that means if you open the end station your pin could reset it,but if its prog as engineer reset then you will need the engineering code to silence it if its silent now is best you call an engineer out and ask him to reset the panel engineering code back to 07890 so have full control of the system in future

Thanks for all your help, we have not opened the box under the stairs (end panel) yet as didnt want to trip the tamper switch and annoy the neighbours this late. Should we try change the battery and see what happens? I suppose if it is still blank I will need the engineering manual? ..., or do you think it is worth paying someone to sort it... I'm not great with electrics and a bit worried about working with the mains .., unless I worrying needlessly? Sorry for all the questions!!

there are two stages to reset first one re sets the codes to factory defaults this is the one you need wish I could give you it on here but cant try google it if you cant find the engineering manual get back to me I will send you it ,best I can do for now

scantronic are very good panels ,best there are

if the engineering code has been changed then you have a problem the panel can be reset to the factory settings but you would need the engineering manual to reprogramme the system,i cant tell you on this open site how to reset the panel back to factory defaults for obvious reasons though I will send you the engineering manual or you could google it best I can do all you need to do when you gert the manual is replace the 7 amp battery

the owners don't change the engineering code the alarm company does the default is 07890 if that not work the the code has been changed by the alarm company the green light is the mains power light .have you opened the end station?the metal box under the stair ?

Just the default one you put on the other post, I have the used guide from the old owners of the house but it doesn't say if they changed it or not. When I put it in the alarm just kept going off so I put the disarm code in and it went off. Then he shut the mains off again. The control panel is now blank no dashes or anything and the light next to the funny = (~) is green and the red LED next the the 'B' is glowing.
Thanks for you help
