t presume you have used machine before,needle is new and inserted with eye to front,indent at back?remove bobbin and needle plate as to get better view on hook when turning handwheel.turn handwheel towards you and observe needle position in relation to hook point when needle bar is moving upwards.if timing is correct the hook should meet the needle just above the eye.if this is not correct you will have to open bottom cover to be able to loosen screws on gear on hook and adjust until hook meet needle in correct way.
