9425 scantronic keypad?

I have replaced my keypad with a used one, which I have been assured it is in perfect working order after my original developed a terminal fault.I've wired it like 4 like ,but it does not seem to be communicating with the main control unit.It has power and registers a tamper when the cover is removed, but thats it.I can neather enter into programming or set it.
I can't think what to do next after checking the wiring.Any ideas welcomed and cheers to all who respond.

glad you sorted it out mate,i know some people on this site wil think am stupid to give away gear, but 1,i can afford it, 2, I would rather have it used than lying in my garage where it will either get broken,or,tossed out when I snuff it :-)my father god rest him a saying, its nice to be nice,

Hey you give free equipment away to revive the scantronics on this site mate,i too share the passion and always will.

Paying Brian a visit was the least I could do under the circumstances,

Besides he was only a few miles away plus I haven't had a play with a 9454 or 55 for years,so that made it a pleasure, and like you say "another scanny back online doing exactly what it was designed for".

.another scanny girl saved, thanks to e manno,

Just to keep you up to speed gts,Brian contacted me late last night and had trouble following my advice when I phoned him back.Turned out he lived not far from us,well 36 miles round trip.

I went over this morning and he has the 9454 with kp1 on entry Kp2 high level.his issue was kp2 which had come of a system with only one rkp,so you know like me mate it's address is kp1.

Cut the link for rkp2 addressing, reboot with new battery, back home in 45 mins following a full system test.

Just charged him for battery and fuel,he was over the moon.

Ps I have sent an email to this firm he used in bingly asking for a copy of their engineers report and why no attempt was made as to a repair, regardless of it's grading which the customer stressed wasn't used for insurance purposes.

Oh well mate just thought I would let you know that it was an addressing issue as we both had originally told him, unfortunately he couldn't understand our advice.

Was going to text you but that would have taken me forever using my fone, besides the buttons seem to get smaller these days :D

e manno, September 2013
No probs mate,a few large malts should cure the sniffles,be well my friend :)

e manno, September 2013
sorry mate loaded with the cold

gts, September 2013
hey, thats mr tinker to the likes o you !!!!!!:-)

gts, September 2013
You certainly can gts you little tinker.
He not foned my yet but I know a man who has lol.

e manno, September 2013
e manno, your such a gentleman I hope he takes up your offer,i think the same as you ,this guy just want sell a new system ,may I keep your number in my files ??

gts, September 2013
Just because the panel and keypads are now obsolete dosent mean you need upgrade, sounds like this tech wants to sell you a system.

Phone me and leave your address and I will send you diagram of the 9425 keypad with big arrow pointing at link that needs cutting if used as a second keypad along with instructions you will find useful.

Don't worry if I not pick up just leave your details.

e manno, September 2013
if your system works with one that be ok

gts, September 2013
ask yourself do you really need two keypads

gts, September 2013
sorry mate,we did try

gts, September 2013
Well that was a waste of time,I'm 85 quid lighter now and have been told I need to upgrade the whole system by the technician.hate to think what that is going to cost me now,oh well such is life,.But thanks anyway.

Brian mc'cleament, September 2013
then you will need call an alarm company out mate,i for one cant make it any simpler, sorry

gts, September 2013
Thanks for the suggestions but I have no idea what both of you are talking about, sorry.

Brian mc'cleament, September 2013
Unless it has pins to jumper as my fellow friend gts has said :)

Have a look then get back to us.

e manno, September 2013
Have a look at the pcb on your old remote keypad and see if the wire link is intact or cut.

If the link has been cut then do the same with the replacement.

e manno, September 2013
as my friend e manno has just stated

gts, September 2013
on the pc board of the keypad there are a line of pins, with a jumper on them, you put the jumper across the pins for a second keypad this tell the system there is another keypad on line with out the jumper the panel wont see the keypad so it will do nothing check your old keypad see were the jumper is fitted

gts, September 2013
Address the keypad or it won't work (data) if you have two.

e manno, September 2013
Not sure what you mean about pins?,but yes I have wired it correctly.I do have two wired keypads on the system and the other one works ok.Thanks for the reply gts.

Brian mc'cleament, September 2013
you either have made an error in the wiring or you have not set the pins on keypad ,or,its faulty do you more than one keypad ??

gts, September 2013
and I hope that you removed ALL power before you replaced the keypad

gts, September 2013
have you set the pins to key pad one?and have you wired it properly?
