Ldv pilot 51 plate struggles to start?

Changed battery, fuel filter, glow plugs air filter. very difficult to start in the morning and if left for say over 12hours won't start at all even with fully charged new battery. RAC guy said may be air in fuel system but garage guy could not find any leaking fuel pipes. Tottally baffled. Can anyone help?

could be hand primer on filter drawing air, also check tank unit rubber pipes for splits and the metal elbows on same for corrosion.did you check for 12v feed to heater plugs when ignition first switched on!

these used a Peugeot engine but a difference I think was the fuel filter mounted on the bulkhead with a hand primer, these were very similar to an escort diesel which were notorious for drawing air at this point, they have a black buttoned hand primer,if it has one of these I would definitely try another/2nd hand one, sorry if I am wrong,it is a while since I worked on one of these, good luck.
