Persistant P0683 code Vauxhall Astra 1.7 Ecoflex?

Dont quite know where to go with this now. Car showing P0683 code & spanner light, had glow plugs and module fitted and ok for 48 hours, spanner light come back on, eventually took to auto electrician who said that he had checked all wiring around that circuit and all was well apart from the resistance of glow plugs. He liaised with the garage who fitted and found out that the glow plugs fitted were not original vauxhall. Garage fitted the correct glow plugs and light stayed off for approx 1 week, light has now come back on and car showing same code. Car driving well. Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on why this is proving to be so persistant and a possible fix/fault. live in Wilts, anyone know of decent garage who could remedy this sort of fault??

This is an update on my previous update, It has now been five days and the spanner light is staying off. The tank of fuel still has dpf cleaner and is around 2/3 of a tank. I plan to run this tank out then use a turbo cleaner(in my next full tank) which also cleans the egr valve. If this works it will clean these components without the need for them to be stripped off vehicle or replaced. That is the theory but these steps have to be worth a try. When looking at the bigger picture the normal servicing does not address these issues, so I will probably use these additives on an on-going basis of at least 2 or 3 times a year.

Hi just wanted to update as I now believe I have found a fix. Due to me doing only short runs to work, round town etc I used a catalytic converter cleaner which you put into the fuel tank when about 1/4 full, less if you want to increase the concentration, In the following tank of fuel I used a DPF cleaner added in the same way when 1/4 tank of fuel left, take car for a good 1/2 hour drive (motorway, dual carriageway) and then drive normally. Well after using the dpf cleaner the spanner light has now gone off and is not coming on, on the first start up of the day/at all. These products are available from amazon, e-bay....I prefer amazon because of the reviews, good makes to look out for are FORTE, JLM, WYNNS. Well worth using if you do short runs where the car does not reach normal operating temperature, also saves on extortionate dealership diagnostic practices, with staff telling you a diag' takes one hour..........right ok. If you use one of these cleaners and buy a cheap code reader you will still beat most dealership diag' prices, with the bonus of turning the spanner light off without their intervention....happy days

It is very difficult to determine your problem as the people you have used have seemed to be quite comprehensive in their findings and have tried and tested what you would expect would repair your fault.I don`t know what systems have been used to determine your fault codes but a good laptop/Tech2 would possibly give a detailed wiring diagram with the correct voltages required at the plugs and it is possible your ecu is sending incorrect data to your plugs, it would maybe be worth visiting your main dealer who if they are forthcoming would maybe know and have heard of your problem before and help you out. Good luck.
