How can I fix inoperative o/s hand brake on a 2003 Renault Megan?

Car failed test due to no operation of o/s handbrake inop! Can anyone tell me what the fault could be?. Do the motors seize? And can they be repaired.
Car is a 2003 Renault Megan.

I am not sure on these but if it is an electric h/brake it will need to go onto a suitable computer, this will be needed to either wind back your caliper pistons or diagnose your fault with your control unit.I was speaking to someone about these a couple of weeks ago who has done some of these, the control unit is £1400 and the motor he was on about was the second one he had fitted to that motor,in my opinion a complete waste of money and another reason to never buy a Renault,if it is a manual h/brake then check for seized cables, pad wear, seized calipers.
