Hi i repair all brands of roll laminators for a living around pittsburgh PA. As a indenpendent service .
The transistor is available from digi key for about 10 bucks. Or you can buy the board from GBC last time I checked it was 179 dollars:( I am currently looking for a NEW thermal fuse source. Many years ago perhaps 5 or 10:( I bought a lot of them and recently ran out, and found my supplier no longer sells them. Last I checked GBC wanted about 80 bucks for a thermal fuse assembly. The fuse itself costs a few bucks at most.
the business end of the thermal fuse isnt that toasted sleeve, it sits against the bottom red heat roller. its probably easier to splice the thermal fuse to machine wire rather than using that plastic insulated connector. when the cover turns brown both spade terminals and the wiring have no doubt overheated, so a safe splice will be necessary.
When I find a NEW thermal fuse source I will post it here in the mean time feel free to call me if you want telephone tech support is always free:)
You should test the contunity of the thermal fuse with a VOM before deciding its blown.
The outlet the machine is plugged into could be dead, or a interlock swith or the main fuse in the machine will give the same symptons
