x stream 150 atv?

I am rewiring my quad and found a burnt out wire from front of engine, I presumed was an earth but the fan went to it which had a ground also, the other wire (black) went to 5 others traced to lights , neutral and reverse lights and brake and tail, when wired to positive on battery fan works, so tells me its a pos feed, so why is it grounded to engine, please help im at wits end, I get a run for twenty mins and cuts out till it cools, also meled to ignition harnesses

Hi,
I'm not familiar with the layout on this ATV but if you have significant melting of part of a harness you should consider replacing the whole harness.
I just had a quick look on the parts sites and they are around $25 or equivalent.
The fact that the machine runs at all would tend to point to an intermittant fault or that the wiring is damaged enough (chafing and/or melting) such that it doesn't allow the cooling system to function. (the fan you mentioned)
