focus 1.8 tdci 115hp, alternator?

battery light comes on when driving but goes out after a few minutes. alternator makes a rattling noise, is it the brushes? if so can they be replaced?

sounds like an alternator issue.yes they can be repaired but might be better to get secondhand or an exchange unit.
