Mazda 6 code 48 seat belt pretensioner?

Hi
I have mazda 6 2002. It went in for its MOT and failed on the Airbag light flashing. It was plugged in and it came up with code 48. Which is passenger seat belt pretensioner fault. I want to know if i fit a MAZDA PASSENGER AIRBAG OCCUPANCY SEAT SENSOR BYPASS EMULATOR would it curse the airbag light flashing or do i have to purchase the actual seat belt pretensioner?

It is a fail due to the light being on that is the policy nowadays,it is a safety issue, but try the connectors under the seats,it may be worth while disconnecting battery to do this and leave for 10 mins, then try again,if it needs a pre tensioner then the fault may need deleted by a code reader to extinguish your light on the dash and then you will get a pass hopefully, good luck

Thank you cdc
I understand but there is nothing wrong with the seat belts they restrain when pulled. The MOT guy passed all the seat an safety etc, but due to a new thing that came out this year that if there is any lights flashing on the dash be it if there is a problem or NOT then they have to fail it?

a common problem on pre tensioners is a high resistance in the wiring connectors, try unplugging then re connecting,I think the previous posting is saying the fault is a serious safety related problem and I am not going to get involved in quick fixes,by passing anything, the fault requires fixing properly,if it costs hundreds then so be it.

So what are you saying......will the Bypass unit turn the airbag light off?

The light must come on and go off for the mot,If bypass makes this happen then from an mot point he has to pass it however when your passenger is laid dead on the road because it failed to restrain them at least you can say you saved a few quid
