How to stop bleeping noise from control panel after mains power cut?

mains power went off in house and alarm ran off battery which has not been replaced in over 10 years. When mains power was turned back on bleeping noise keeps coming from control panel and alarm can not be reset to stop noise.

You should be on battery number 3 or 4 now, NOT no.1

It may be rechargeable but that does not mean it will last forever.
