have problem with above car,the engine revs between 800 and 1500 in drive without touching throttle,if i unplug sensor on gearbox the engine idles normally,can you help rectify this problem.the gearbox im told was only used by ford for a short time as it was frought with problems then ford scrapped idea.cheers

Hello i rebuild gearboxs for a living.
The gearbox in your car is known as a C.T.X
It is well known for causing problems,is your car a zetec engine?
You say you unplugged a sensor on the gearbox,the only standard sensor fitted to this gearbox,s is the speedo sensor.
Does it slip or judder at all?
does is stall when you put it into drive or reverse?
