BMWE 525D Turbo charger replacement instructions?

I need to renew my 2002 E39 turbocharger, is it done from top or bottom

I don't know if you completed this job but it's done from both the top and bottom. You need to remove the air filter to get at the bolts and remove all the electrical and hose connections from the top then go underneath and remove everything else
