Engine misfiring on my Renault Scenic?

My engine is misfiring on my 2002 1.4 ltr Renault Scenic.
I have been told they suffer from the inline pencil ignition coils breaking down, but if i disconnect the wire from any coil the engine runs a lot worse. Thanks.

One or two of those plugs you are disconnecting are broken. You need to buy and new one and change it.
