hotpoint wd860p will not start washing cycle?

Hotpoint wd860p switches on and lets me select any cycle . We press start then it flickers and bleeps with end showing . Is there an easy fix to this ?

Is it the power module down the back left or the display / function module at the top front ? could the power cables from the dryer cause this problem ?
