How do I fix my Bernina 830 foot pedal?

I haven't used my Bernina 830 for quite a while but today I found the light turns on but nothing happens when I push on the foot pedal. On the internet it says there are a couple different foot pedals for my model, type 213 and 232. Mine says Type 290 on the bottom. I bought it just before the newer models came out and the internal parts are set up different than the 213 or 232. It also shows 115V 60Hz 0.9A.
I wouldn't try to repair this myself but my husband has experience with other electrical appliances and with instruction may be able to repair it.
Thanks.

i presume you have already opened the controller and i suspect it is the one with carbon slide control and cap,you will have to test parts to confirm what is the problem this model its normally carbon pad thats dirty or cracked.suggest you start at point to check continuity on electronic and wires from controller to machine, when controller is press you must get continuity between 2 point of receptacle on machine side
