I went to preheat my cooker yesterday evening
i though it was grand when i heard the fan running but when i went to put the food in the oven wasn't hot at all. the element looks fine but is not getting hot at all all the wiring looks fine.
Maybe its the element. but if it was wouldn't the cooker trip the switch in the board?

if the element has gone open circuit then no it wouldn't trip.Very easy to test elements with a multimeter to confirm if they are good or bad
