Hi, borrowed mates car the other night when it was freezing! I mean there was thick ice on the car?! Which is Vauxhall Astra 1.6 Club Estate 1998 Petrol. I scraped most of the ice off and was only doing a short journey. However, about a mile down the road the wipers stopped and when I stopped I tried to give them a helping push but NOW NOTHING!!?? PLEASE HELP??

Just like to say thanks for the help added and I didnt check the arms but did change the fuse and it was sorted!!YIPPEE!!NOT??? Went out again and this time not freezing but started to rain and the wipers were working fine untill I started to use the windscreen wash and they went pop again in the middle of the screen!!AAAGGH!!I forgot to add that the back windscreen wiper has not worked for long time but the wash does so maybe this is a contributing problem?? I`ve seen about fixing the motor or getting one from the scrappy so thats what I`ve advised my mate??!!!I had enough problems trying to get the fuse in and out??GOOD LUCK to anyone else with the winter getting closer??Any bright ideas other than the obvious then Please let me know as will I??

check wiper arm fixing nuts,[at bottom of arm under plastic cover] they may be loose!i take it you have checked fuses?
