Car alarm immobiliser activating ?

We have a 2001 Ford Fiesta Ghia and recently we are having problems after unlocking the door, we open the door to get in the alarm/immobiliser is activated, what is the cure to this, is there a way to disable the alarm immobiliser? thanking you in advance
