Repair to leaking Aqualisa Quartz Electric 10.5 shower?

I have removed the cover and water leaks from just above the outlet to shower head... but only when the shower head is held above the unit. If I lower the head below the flow stops. It is a good unit so do not want to have to buy a new one.
