I was trying to ring up an item (first sale of the day) and the register didn't do anything once I hit the CA/AT button. I did not include a decimal or anything I shouldn't have and there was no error beep. The item number which is usually displayed on top the left was kind of burnt out. Any suggestions????

If you press clear (CL) and it doesn't beep, it is usually a faulty keyboard membrane which is stopping the keyboard from working. If you can get numbers on the display by using clear and the numeric buttons but can't get a department button to work, it usually means you need to log on with the CASH# button
