If you are referring to the red button on an overheat thermostat it probably has not cutout. To test put a test meter across it on resistance it should make a circuit. If you do not have a meter you can UNPLUG the machine, and if the stat only has 2 wires on it join the tags together, then switch on ONLY IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT YOU CAN DO IT SAFELY. If the machine then heats ok the stat is faulty, if not the fault is elsewhere. Cheers
