Scantronic 500r?

Hi just moved into a property with the above alarm that looks like it has been disconnected. On checking the fuse has been removed from the square mains fed box to the side.Iam itching to put a fuse in and power it up but iam reluctant to do so because I fear the alarm will activate and not be able to silence it.
I have already removed the cover for a peek inside thus noticing the battery has also been disconnected, also written on the rear of the lid are two four digit codes one marked with ENG? 4242?,the other 0794,are these the codes for the alarm?.
Also if I were to power this back up then what should I expect??.cheers to all who can advise.

don't understand why alarm panel manufactures don't understand why cant they make user manuals very simple, why give info they don't need just tell them how to set and unset system very simple, leave other stuff to engineers

true e manno,we have about 150 ions out there brill panels, but not far too expensive, our costs are prohibitive, then when we give customer the cost, they turn white, have fitted about 100 of the visonic, and pyronix units found them far too over engineered ,they are a pig to programme, user manual far too over engineered ,too much info for them to understand ,least ion manual for user easy to understand its only one page ! :-)

What are your thoughts on the homelink 75 gear gts?.

500r and 500+ gear on fleabay costing more now than they ever did mate.must admit we bought in plenty of stock but all gone over the last 10 years.

Shame we had to pull ours out of service, believe me I had my fingers in many pies back then but couldn't source any gear for a reasonable price.

I agree gts the Ion's are brill even though if truth be told never fitted one, only done the site radio surveys prior to install and made out the cert's.

Don't see many installers using these as they are way over priced as you know mate and hence the visonic suppose is the next best thing in wireless and way cheaper.

We can't afford to fit many and only do so if we can't slap a wired one in :)

As for your sales rep mate tell him to search flea bay now he may be lucky and find a smoke but as for the rest?.

They screwed us good and proper :(

the ions are great panels mate, but scanny taking the piss I fear hiked the cost of them right up,dont think I will be buying them anymore, will stiil use the 9448,9448+ and the 9651,i mean ion keyfob was £30.now £44.00 nah mate,as you know am great fan of scanny, but, enough is enough,if all installers cease to buy them, then they will have a great amount of stock lying about, then they ewill be forced to cut the cost to a more reasonable price, what you think ????/

hi e manno,i was talking to the scanny rep, told him was not happy with 500,500r being discon, take a guess of his suggestion,?buy them from e bay !!!!!

Bet who ever shut the system down didn't remove the AA batteries from all the detectors learned to this system,so chances are the batteries will have leaked and ruined them.

We have had to replace all the 500r/+'s on maintenance contracts thanks to scantronic, still remember getting their discontinuation letter saying that spares will be manufactured for a further three months then that was it.

Installers etc resorted to panic buying and soon stocks dwindled, pir's and door contacts were the first to drop out of circulation as all faults with the 500r were supervision related but a very good panel to boot.

Then came the Ions, great maybe the detectors will work with the 500r's,so guys got a little exited until we all read the specs, dam not the same radio freq.

Scantronic let us all down I feel :(

Anyway back to the post:

Gts has given you more info than you deserve it appears.

fed up giving advice to people who don't reply, call an alarm company out mate,am outa here .

gts, February 2014
if you need user or engineering manual let me know,i will post them to you free of charge,

gts, February 2014
each detector is battery powerd with the panel supervising each unit it will let you know when the batteries are needing replaced,i e zone one low battery etc etc anyway get back to us when you can

gts, February 2014
hi this is a radio system,a very good radio system,
the numbers could be the codes for the alarm, but pros don't put codes inside the panel, connect the battery, then close panel put mains fuse back on key in the 0794 see what happens, then get back to us
