there are two main possibilities,1.does it make a humming noise but the drum does not turn? most likely cause is a faulty capacitor. as a drier does not have a carbon brush motor it requires a kick start each time it stops, the capacitor is a round can shaped object located on or close to the motor.2if you can hear the motor running the drive belt has probably broken.

You may find that the motor start capacitor is U/S.
Available online for around £13.00 inc P&P and very easy to fit.

This solved motor run problem for me.....trouble is drier will not heat now :( ...As the motor stopped whilst running I have now got to look for thermostat or element failure...Anyone know where the thermostat can be found?

YES I PUT A NEW BELT ON THE MOTOR .AND THE BELT IS ROUND THE DRUM...YOU HAVE TO PUSH THE DRUM TO TO GET IT STARTED///GAZ
