Just had a new complete 4 pce clutch kit fitted and its rattling on gear change , garage are saying gearbox is on its way out , is this a lie ...???? Anybody got any clues please as this has justbcost me 550 quid .

Was the flywheel replaced with a solid conversion kit or another DMF? If a solid conversion kit was used, get it replaced with the correct DMF clutch kit. Because of the high torque and vibration frequencies these engines produce it wont belong before your gearbox will need replacing or worst case, a snapped crank shaft. I done a lot of research regarding this as I needed to replace mine (DIY) and opted for like for like replacement (DMF type) and engine and box runs sweet as a nut. SOLID CONVERSION KITS ??????? you have been warned.

cheap kits have been know to cause noise which then gets blamed on gearbox !!!.Could be true or could be a lie.was the noise there with old clutch?.If so it could be wear
