How can I fix my HP PSC 2310 All-in-One series?

My HP PSC 2310 All-in-One series has suddenly given up the ghost. When it is switched on it make this cluncking sound for about 2-3 mins then stops, hower the LDT screen on the printer shows that is is waiting to load but does not come up with the menu. I then just shut it down as it will not function. Can anyone help? I am reluctant to dispose of it as it is the best copier I have had.

Thanks for the info Roger, I tried that but it didn't work so it look like a new printer is in order. Thank you anyway. It was worth a try.

It sounds like the home sensor for head home position is not working try to move head to middle of printer rail then turn it on head will move to the right it may then clear but I think a new printer is required as repair cost higher than new printer
