9600 alarm panel output?

hi there i wish to replace my bellbox on my 9600 alarm system with 2 texecom odyssey 3, great sounder but they tend to draw alot of current from the panel and i ha worked out my total load will be 860ma will this panel be able to handle that amount of current in alarm mode i think it said on the manual that it can support 1250ma depending on temperature. any feedback would be deeply apprieciated thanks

hi there so how much current can the bell and strobe output handle the manual only states the aux circuit current which is 1250ma i image they are rated to an amp but just need your expert opinion or is this panel so great i have nothing to worry about thanks any feedback would be deeply appreciated thanks

ps i have had this panel for over 20 years and its worked great and i love it but i just need to know the current output of the bell and strobe because i may plan to add additional sounders to the system in the future thanks

wow cool, but out of interest what is the bell and strobe rated at on this great panel? i know the aux circuit is rated at 1250ma. i have a texecom odyssey 3 on my panel and it works great but out of curiousity how much bell and strobe current does this old girl provide? thanks

nothing you can tell me about scanny panels mate:-)I been in the trade for 44 years, god, dont I feel old,but am in good company with e manno and alarm guy !!!

also forgot to mention each zone has its own tamper circuit so makes fault finding very easy another reason why this panel is better than the newer ones

i dont think there is one mate, wow 32 years, mine is just over 20 years and has rarely ever caused false alarms and even to this day it can still blow your ears off ,9600 is a good solid sturdy panel its just the best imho, its power supply can almost take twice as much power as these modern panels, basically the 9600 is a tank of an alarm old but the best:) i am more than happy to keep my 9600

I also have the end station with poly carbonate key pad 32 years old still working perfectly
only changed it coz the keypad not go with the ladies new décor ! go figure ,name me one more panel that last for 32 years

I have a zone extension card for this panel, your welcome to it.and have cd for user and engineers manuals send you copy of both if you want

scantronic 9600 ftw god knows what scantronic were thinking to stop making these. but there still out on ebay so if you see one grab it quickly i garantee it wont let you down. who cares if its old its still the best domestic alarm imo.

im agree with you gts i love these panels to you cant go wrong with these

thanks again, wow put the texecom odyssey and the 9600 siren together what a massive amount of volume they both produce a lot louder than these modern alarms boy i tell you this panel may old but it can sure deafen you if mess about mess about with it. i dont think anyone scum would dare to come near my house after they heard the amount of volume this old girl produces

cheers mate:)

gave my opinion and I stick by it mate, the 9600 is an excellent panel, scantronic panels are the best in my humble opinion .we only use scannys

hi there does each output on this panel have its own polyfuse and rating is the 1250ma meaning the aux circuit at the bottom of the pcb if so the only circuits connected to that is the power to the detectors which is 54 ma. is bell current rated to 1amp? the odtssey draws 523ma in total so my load is 812ma.

ps i do not know if the main pcb counts if not my load is 767ma. the second odyssey is going to be scb so it will draw 58ma so my total current will be 825ma in alarm mode but will this old beast be able to handle that? once again any feedback would be deeply apprieciated thanks

diyer25, February 2014
hi there my system has 2 keypads 45ma each,4 motion detectors 54 ma in total, 2 magnetic contacts, a panic button, and an internal sounder [ speaker] and also the odyssey 3 on sab all that together in alarm draws 812ma and it works.the manual says the panel can take 1250ma on the aux circuit i dont know about the bell and strobe output. thanks

although the 9600 panel is old is still a good powerful system if looked after cheers

Or put one or both sounders on SCB.

On SCB they are still loud. And would work without any modification to the panel.

Otherwise you need a 2 amp Psu and relay. ( 2 amp because you might as well)

Alarm, February 2014
I would recommend a separate power supply for the extra sounder, you don't give any info on what your system draws so cant give you exact info mate
