got a problem with 02 reg transit gear shift.The grey cable has come off the ball joint ,as new in buisness not a lot of money.A new cable is well over £100 is there a

I have heard of people trying a small bit of polythene over the ball joint to take up excess play before pressing on the cable, it maybe serves as a temporary fix but maybe not long term,give it a go,what have you to lose.
