Many versions of Diagnostic tools are advertised on the net ie E-Bay etc are they worth buying by the DIY mechanic

Defo. I bought a MAXISCAN 390 off ebay for £16 and have used it many times to retrieve DTCs, reset engine lights etc. Well worth buying one especially if your going to buy a car you can check for any faults before you buy, use it once and its paid for itself.
