hi there to cut a long story short i have replaced all my motion detectors on my scantronic 9600, i have fitted 6 aritech ev125p to the system, but when i am trying to reset the system it says aux power failure,cannot reset, according to the manual it mean aux overload but each detector only draws 14 ma? the keypads and sirens all work fine its just the aux thats seemed to have failed, i cant see any fuses on the board either any ideas

its a great system and i dont want to replace it due to a minor fault any help would be great thanks

you will never blow a scantronic 9600 its a very strong and great panel and it will take a hell of a lot to kill it. dont worry. chances are if you were overloading it slightly by a few ma it would still work anyway no prob alarms only go off for a short amount of time you cant harm it so dont worry

morning i will try to answer my own question and you can tell me if im correct, okay here goes i could add another 9 zones ie the full 16 zones with the expander cards of motion detectors which draw around 14 ma ish and the control panel would still be fine in quecent and alarm mode.

the only way i could possibly overload the the panel is by fitting an additional sounder as they draw the most current, if i did want another sounder i could install an additional power supply then link the triggers to the panel. a couple more zone and motion detectors isnt going to harm the system.

hi there i tried measuring the current as you suggested but ended up self activating the alarm,, my load is less than 1 amp and im pretty sure its around 812ma in alarm but would this panel still be fine with this current regardless of temperature changes?, i realise i had aux power failure due to the short circuit,

if the alarm works is that all the proof i need

You need a meter set to amps set up for a mA reading and remove the mains fuse, the reading you get is the current drawn, then trigger the speaker and the difference between the two is the speaker.
The speaker on its own will read different to how the panel stands up, so test through the panel as above,

okay thanks, my total load in alarm is 712ma or 812ma, im assuming the speaker is 100ma, it is certainly no more than my main 1amp that supplies the alarm because it would have blown and the 9600 can supply more than this

is there a way to test just speaker itself i have a multimeter, from calculation my load in alarm is 712ma or 812ma thats why i need to know the speaker thanks

Two high current outputs rated at 500ma each continuous draw.
PCB draws 45ma
RKP draws 45ma

THE POWER SUPPLY is rated 1250ma it DOES not say the Aux outputs are.

Calculate TOTAL demand from ALL to get the draw in ALARM to include comms devices.

You build it around those parameters.

the 9600 manual only tells me the aux detector circuit is 1250ma, it doesnt say what the bell and strobe is, if your curious i have a texecom odyssey 3 and the 114db kinetic internal speaker they both work but it would be nice to know what the bell and strobe is rated at on this panel instead of me guessing, i heard you guys like the scantronic alarms so i thought it would be best to ask you

This is like pulling hens teeth.
No punctuation either, so I know not what is a question or assumption.
Download a manual, they are there if you ask the right questions to a search engine.
You are not overloading the panel, not going to unless you add more sounders.

1250 is the max at a certain temperature, of ALL connected.
Total in standby, not bits and bobs.

183 and 812 sound about right.

hi there, i checked all the detectors and guess what i managed to trap the cable on the last detector which indeed caused a short circuit, luckily there was enough slack in the cable so stripped back and reconnected then volla the aux came back to life and the detectors now work and the alarm reset:) what do you mean by the total load do you mean the aux or the entire system? what is the total load this panel can take? any feedback would be great thanks

my quicent current is 183 ma and my alarm current is 812ma the alarm works great, just be a bit more careful in the future

It is the TOTAL current drawn, not just the detectors.
Although I doubt you are drawing an Amp in quiescent mode.
I suspect a short, check the wiring and then the fuse should reset IIRC on this. As they are electronic resettable, IE, remove the fault and they reset.
