The Engine management unit icon on dashboard of my vauxhall agile?

The Engine management unit on my 52 vauhall agila stays on whilst driving. Does anyone know what the problem is please?or what needs to be done. The car sometimes loses power whilst driving.

Could be several things but first of all I'd check that the air-filter is not dirty and blocked.

Failing that it could be spark-plugs or coil pack I suppose.

When was it last serviced?

is this a 1.0l or 1.2l? a code reader would be the best thing to do but air flow meters were bad for going on these but don`t guess as it can cost a lot of money.
