nissan burning oil on starting?

i have a nissan almera tino 1.8 petrol burns oil on cold starting.there is no smoke afterwards which indicates worn valve seals.could anybody tell me if the seals can be replaced without removing the head.

There were motors where you could renew seals without removing the head, get the piston up to tdc and compress the valve spring and the seals were revealed, whether yours can be done I don't know,it will depend on what access there is and what sort of combustion chamber is there, it may be worth a go but in the end the head may have to come off, good luck
