How can I get my Zanussi Electrolux DE 540 X dishwasher to clean again?

My dishwasher isn't consistently cleaning my dishes. I've salted and filled up rinse aid but it's hit and miss.
Any ideas?

it could mean no heat,blocked sprayers,faulty circulating pump,or just plain dirt thru out system.suggest you run machine empty and hot for two cycles and then try again,if not you will have to investigate furher
