If you have no wash action and no spin it will be the brushes, if you have wash action and no spin it could be the imbalance sensor operating because you have an adverse load e.g. a single bath mat or heavy single item. Or the filter is blocked and the water does not drain properly, or the cancel spin option has been set by accident or by an inquisitive child.

It will probably be the brushes in the motor, they are easy to change by a average DIYer.
