Scantronic 9827 resetting problem?

I have a Scantronic 9800+ house alarm with 9827 keypad. Although the alarm was not set, at 0400 today the alarm went off. I believe it had E on the display. I keyed in my 4-digit code and the noise stopped but it now has the 'Day' & 'Fault' lights lit and in the window it has ' tr ' on it. Don't know what this means or what to do. From a previous query I see that 'rt' means 'illegal use of keypad'. But mine says 'tr'. Does 'rt' mean the same as 'tr' ? It is now 0520 and the alarm has gone off again with the same lights lit and also the 'service' light on briefly. It has now just got 'tr' on. I can get it serviced, but how can i reset it in the meantime until it is serviced?

if you see an e in the window, then the system was in engineering mode, you may have a fault in the bell box, and I would recommend the battery needs to be replaced inside the end station

Just wanted to thank anyone who might have replied and let those who have a similar problem know what I did. My alarm was not set. When I put my 4-digit code in to stop the bell sounding initially, I used the code for stopping the alarm. What I should have done was put in the code + A LETTER (for the zone), which was the code for SETTING the alarm. Then I could put the code for stopping the alarm, which is what I have now just done. Initially the alarm was not primed at all - and I put the code in for stopping it -( instead of the code for starting it ) and it didnt work. Its taken me 5 hours of searching forums when it occurred to me. It all makes sense now but at 0400 hrs, I could not think straight. Thanks anyway.

Just found out 'tr' means Tamper Return Fault. I would re-iterate that this alarm was not primed. It hadn't been used for several months. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
