Zanussi TC481w.Drum seems free.Belt OK.But drum needs a nudge?

Zanussi TC481w.Drum seems free.Belt OK.But drum needs a nudge. I have taken my dryer appart to check all of the parts run free and they do. When you switch the machine on it trys to turn the drum but cannot. If i doctor the door open switch closed then help the drum round the dryer springs into life. I suspect that the problem could be with the capasitor is it designed to give the motor an initial kick to start? Can anyone confirm this?

im having a problem with this machine.it just wont start.it switches on ,makes the right hum,but never starts spinning.is this what you expierienced richard?and is it the capacitor?

Capacitor. 8uF. Only if everything is free as you suggest. Motors are almost bulletproof with this machine.

may be a winding in the motor or cap as you say
