Just fitted a new drive belt but now when I engage blades engine cuts out. Have checked brakes switch and took clutch off again couldn't see any problems

I have had the same problen mate, and I found in my case its nothing more complicated than the grass collector was hooked on the rear but wasnt pushed down all the way and the safety switch therefore not engaged. It may be that your switch is in need of adjustment or replacement.
