I have replaced the front links connecting the mcphereson strut to the anti-roll bar but cant seem to tighten them up. the nuts and the studs appear to be going round and round without tightening. there is no way to hold the inner part of the swivel joint without damaging it. help

There is sometimes a flat on the main boss for holding it steady or a torx or hex bit onto the end of the thread to do the same.
