I have a 2010 Vauxhall Astra 1.7cdti ecoflex. When i turn the engine off, the egr valve is clicking 4 or 5 times, its quite loud u can hear it every time. Was wondering if any1 knows what it could be and how to sort it. Ive been debating to take it off my self and clean it. Ive been told the valve itself or whatever its called isn't closing 1st time. So not sure what to do. Can any1 help please.
There is a known issue with the EGR valve on the newer Vauxhall Diesels.
Just replaced mine at 49,000 miles.

Every time the engine is switched off it will go through a self cleaning phase,I think this is what you are hearing,if you are not sure source a good mechanic who can either verify this or determine if you need a repair.

Ive had the car about 3 months now and its done it every time. Would it not stop after so long?

This may be normal,a lot of egr valves go through a self cleaning process when the engine is switched off on newer vehicles.
