Water propeller in the base had a lot of material wrapped around it which I have now removed. Unfortunately now all over the place water being removed but that is all. When turning programme dial it won't switch off at stop just keeps on turning the pimp. No water coming in etc. seems as if it could do with resetting

sounds like the anti flood system is operating, all that happens is the drain pump works all the time. you need to mop out all the water from the base plate of the machine where the workings are. Unplug the machine first !
