Zanussi Turbodry WDT 1072 does nothing when switched on?

Hi, I have a Zanussi Turbodry WDT 1072, and it was working OK up till around a week ago, when I noticed that on selecting any program, the machine took longer and longer to start (from 3sec to 2 mins!). Now the machine doesn't start at all.
The power light is on and I have checked the filters and hoses - all OK.
Any suggestions?.
Thanks very much.

Thanks William. I am not very handy and a callout is costing around £75 + VAT. As the machine is over 10 years old, not sure it's worth fixing. Will take a look at a new one as well.
Cheers.

It will have a coil (solenoid) operated water inlet valve - does water enter the machine?

This part often fails - it will be under the lid and the water inlet hose will screw onto it - easy to find.

If it is defective it will be relatively easy to change or relatively easy to have a specialist do it for you.

I know nothing of washing machines - a contributor here from New Zealand is expertly professional and might give a more accurate answer.

Good luck...
