back of lazyboy recliner wont slide on track?

I moved and upon bringing chair into new house in 2 pieces, I think my chair may be out of square and I cannot get the back to slide onto the base of the recliner. I tried one pipe clamp to no avail. Any suggestions before it goes to the landfill?
It was my favorite chair.

Hi. Normally due to raised bolts that hold the metal slot on to the back section of the chair stopping the spike from meshing with the slot. Tighten the mounting bolts to give more clearance. While you're at it, make sure that the locking clip on the slot is aligned with the corresponding hole in the spike. Do this whilst the bolts are loosened.
