Stopping the water from overflowing?

the water won't stop, causing the machine (Simpson 550) to overflo
peter, October 2014
depending if machine is powered on or off it can be caused by 4 things,i normally start with easy ones, iff power is off and water still flow in it means the intake valve got some dirt inside or solenoid not operating preventing valve to close, iff power is on it could be intake valve, next is there a thin plastic tube from basket to a pressure valve that could be blocked or perished or the pressure valve is defective, last and expensive is the control module/panel,intake valve can be checked outside machine by connecting power and water when power is switched on water should flow but power off should water stop flowing
