Hotpoint Aquarius Washing Machine nightmare!?

My washing machine was plugged into a socket and it would suddenly stop working and everything else connected on that circuit would switch off too, i.e. The t.v., fridge, cooker.

I plugged it in a different socket not on the same circuit it worked for a few months and now it's stopped working again.

I have now plugged it in a different socket and its temperamental.

So does the problem lie with the machine or the electrics?

Thanks

I have a mains circuit that behaves the way you describe - Fridge - Washing Machine - Tumble Dryer - Microwave - Boiler all buzzing away quite happily until we plug the iron in - then the fuse pops.

Add up the Wattage of each appliance - divide by the voltage - the result is the maximum current being drawn. Check it against the rating of the breaker.

You may have a circuit overload problem but you may also have an issue with your machine - how does it behave when it's on a lightly loaded circuit? What does temperamental mean? Sulky?

Good luck...

how many items do you have running at the same time on that circuit? you could be overloading it,but if its acting up on a differend socket, must be the machine, check out the power cable on it ,
