You had it running and got it through the MOT then decided to do major work on it even if you don't know what your doing, Dohh!Could be any number of causes,as you have fitted a new carb make sure you have free play in the throttle cable (you should be able to twist the throttle a bit before it picks up,it should feel slack)you do that on the cable adjuster at the twist grip end of the cable,if the cable is tight the throttle is open on main jet but won't run on pilot jet,i.e.tickover.Good luck.
