Veritas 8 alarm - keypad not responding?

Hi

I haven't used our Home Alarm since we moved in a year ago.

Anyway I turned off the mains the other day to do some diy and when I did the alarm went off. Anyway I didnt have the personal code so I just covered up the PIR sensors with cardboard and waited the 20 mins to run down.

I eventually found the code and tried it but even though the keypad is lit up and making a noise when a key is pressed it doesn't seem to acknowledge any codes etc.

The thing is when we leave the house through the front or back door the internal alarm goes off (not the main external alarm) - but only for 1 min.

Any ideas?

Personally, since we don't use the alarm I would be happy to disconnect the battery from the main PCB board as well as pull every single fuse out.

Would I be able to do this or will the external alarm 'sense' this and go off via its own internal battery or something?

Any advice will help :s

Thanks

Sorry I forgot to say that after I switched the mains off and the alarm sounded I switched it back on again.

There is a green mains light on inside the main PCB also but I still can't reset/set any code or leave the house without the internal alarm sounding
