how to bypass on/off switch on hotpoint wt540

there goes tony again, every fault on washing machines is the main module,if the machine wont start up esp a hotpoint, its normaly the bi-metal door switch, its a common fault on hotpoints to remove, take the plug from the wall socket, open the door, remove the spring from around the door seal, take the door seal from the shell ,the lock is held in by two screws, put hand in hold the lock as you remove the screws, you can then remove the lock ,take note wherethe wires go,if its an older machine, newer models have a biased connecter plug can only go on one way ,hope this helps

Why would you even want to? An on/off switch is a safety feature designed to shut power off when the appliance not in use or in an emergency. Removing it puts you or your appliance at risk. A new switch doesn't cost much so why not just fit a new one?

I doubt its a faulty switch - more likely main module. We stock them at www.emwelec.co.uk or call 01159652118

Switches just connect wires together in the on position and disconnect them when set to off.

If you wish to bypass a switch you just join the wires together.
