how can i fix hard steering on ford iveco truck?

steering problem on ford iveco truck .what are the possible causes and remedies to hard steering

thank you cdc for that helpful information . I am now thinking of replacing the two , the pump and the steering box . is it possible to fit a steering rack in place of a box

The Ivecos I have encountered all had racks, yours having a steering box is different,it is hard to determine your next step, when the wheels are jacked up and they turn ok suggests all your balljoints, king pins etc are ok and there is no load on the wheels. The few vans I have encountered like this ended up being the pump or rack/box even though there are no leaks and no other fault visible. Good luck.

king pin siezed, king pin thrust bearings siezed or disintregrated. i'm guessing its a eurocargo?

thank you cdc but the thing is , if you jack the axle the wheels turns fine. all these other things you mentioned are ok . opened the box everything looks ok . what next

No P.A.S fluid in reservoir, defective pump/rack,steering column joints seized, tight balljoints
